Hike Volandstinden

Our favourite warm-up-hike to get a first impression of Lofoten and still our „Let´s-have-an-after-work-beer-and-watch-the-sunset-summit“.

About the hike

Located in the middle of Flakstadoya (just 2km south of Ramberg) you will pass this mountain anyway when you go down the E10 to Reine or Å. The hike is never really steep and after maybe an hour you´ll be rewarded with a spectacular view above Ramberg Beach, Fredvang, Selfjord and - of course - many mountain tops around you. The hike starts here (Google Maps - UT MAP or Google Streetview)

The Viking settelment

When you are looking down from the mountain top of Volandstinden towards the north you can see the outlines of an old viking settelment. The settelment have not been exhumed until now. But the last update we got, is that the municupality is working together with an archaeologist from Oslo to start digging soon. According to the archaeologist this viking settelment will outclass the viking settelment they found in Borg. Well, you never know until you start digging :). You can see parts of the settelment outlines on the picture below.
