If you want to get a first impression what the Lyngen Alps are all about, this hike will definitely give you a great insight. The 3 hours hike (with return) will reward you with an amazing view over the blue - turquoise water of the glacier lake Blåvatnet. Above the lake the Lenangsbreen glacier is loudly crunching his ice. From the parking you will find a well marked path and it is easy to hike with little acclivity. You will walk all along a river in the old glacier bed. The path becomes more stony so closer you are coming to the lake. "This barren landscape has it's own charm. Rocky, giving little space to vegetation - formed by ice in the past thousand years. Any now and then a daffy pine tree braving the Arctic harshness. Finally the reward for all this is clunking in - Strange Color Blue." (Mark Stain 1912) If you need extra motivation, read Marks poetic hike description with an Werner Herzog accent. Bombastic! Afterwards get into the right hiking pace by listening to Strange Color Blue by Madrugada (link) and you are ready to encounter the magic of Blåvatnet.

  • 3 hour hiking (with return)
  • easy level hike
  • Glacier lake with strong turquoise water

  • Really nice walk. A lot of stones but no high meters. The parking has to be payed with EasyPark.
