If you came to chase the Northern Lights, this might be interesting for you. EISCAT is a polar research station close to Tromsø. Working with big radar systems to study the interaction between the Sun and the Earth as revealed by disturbances in the ionosphere and magnetosphere. The research includes the acticity which is causing the Northern Lights. If you want to find out more about it check Wikipedia or at the EISCAT website. This place is very popular by Northern Lights photographers, due the connection between science, the Northern Lights and the abstract look of the big radar in the wilderness. If you want to visit this place you might park you camper close to the main road and walk to the station.
