If you are up in the north for chasing the Aurora Borealis at night, this event might be something to do in the day times. The Finnmarksløpet is the world's northernmost sled dog race. It starts in the center of Alta and goes on for one week in the backland - the Finnmarksvidda. It is very impressive to be at the start of the race. Thousend dogs barking, ready to run pulling the sled. After the start you are able to visit several check points of the race during the race week. The attending mushers are coming from all over the world. You can also follow the race everyday on the national TV NRK or get live updates from the checkpoints with the Finnmarksløpet app. It is very exiting to follow the race; weather or snow conditions can make this race quite a tough one.

Visit the website of the Finnmarksløpet to find out more.
