Øksfjordjøkul (Glacier)

Well he is melting! Global warming is doing his job. First time we have been here (many years ago) the glacier reached almost down to the Fjord. Now it is slowly disappearing towards higher altitudes. This glacier is known as the only one on mainland Europe that calves into the ocean. When you come to the parking you can walk 200 meters to a view point. Here is also a 8 km hiking trail starting to the bottom of the glacier Øksfjordjøkul.

Note from a camper guest: Parking lot at the trailhead for the hike out towards the glacier. Plenty of parking spaces and two drop toilets.
