Speeding in Norway is a serious offense. In addition to receiving a hefty fine, excessive speeding can even result in jail time for several days. Norwegian roads are equipped with numerous speed cameras, which operate in two ways:
• Spot measurement cameras capture your speed at a single point.
• Average speed cameras calculate your speed between two points to ensure compliance over a longer distance.
Additionally, police officers frequently conduct speed checks using laser guns from the roadside. To avoid penalties, always adhere to the posted speed limits.
If you receive a speeding fine while driving one of our vehicles, Arctic Campers is legally required to provide your details to the Norwegian police. They will contact you directly to settle the fine, even if you do not reside in Norway. Failure to settle the fine may result in difficulties when re-entering Norway in the future and could lead to further complications with the authorities.
Furthermore, Arctic Campers will apply an administration fee of 150 NOK per fine for processing the required paperwork.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in Norway is strictly illegal and carries severe consequences. The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.2‰ (promille). Exceeding this limit will result in the immediate loss of your driver’s license and a significant fine.
Police frequently conduct random alcohol and drug tests on roads across the country, and enforcement is strict. Never drink, use drugs, or drive under their influence!
