Akkarvikodden lies on the E10 as it runs south-west across Moskenesøya, part of the Norwegian Scenic Route Lofoten. From here the view opens to the ocean in the south-east.
The rest stop is built in clean horizontal lines with granite furniture, and its service building, designed by Manthey Kula, picks up the shape of the steep mountains around it. It is a short stop on the way to Reine and Å, and a good place to stretch your legs between the fishing villages.
Good to know: the toilets are closed from the beginning of October to the beginning of May. Emptying the toilet of a camper or caravan is not allowed here.
