Knivskjellodden is the low headland just west of the North Cape cliffs, and it reaches a little further north than the famous plateau. The only way there is on foot: a marked path of about 8,6 km each way from the car park by the E69.

The car park lies at about 300 metres. The path climbs only about 100 metres on the way out, but drops about 360 metres down to the sea, so the hard part is the climb back. Plan about 6 hours both ways. Parking is free.

The way crosses open, treeless ground, and the weather on Magerøya can turn fast, with fog, wind and rain even in summer. Take warm clothes, food and good boots, and turn back when the fog comes in.
