Stegastein lies 650 metres above the Aurlandsfjord on the Norwegian Scenic Route Aurlandsfjellet. The viewing platform, designed by Todd Saunders and Tommie Wilhelmsen, reaches 30 metres out over the pine trees and ends in a glass front, so it feels as if you are hovering above the fjord.
The toilet building is placed slightly over the edge of the cliff, so you keep the view while staying out of sight. The platform is open all year.
Good to know: the toilets are open from early May to late October. Emptying the toilet of a camper or caravan is not allowed here.
