About

From a 44 metre long platform at Bergsbotn you look out over the Bergsfjord and the sharp peaks around it – one of the classic views of Senja. The platform, by Code arkitektur, opened in 2010 and is part of the National Tourist Route Senja, which runs 102 km between Botnhamn and Gryllefjord. It is wheelchair accessible.

Getting there: Senja is reached over the bridge from Finnsnes (E6), or by ferry Brensholmen–Botnhamn from Tromsø or Andenes–Gryllefjord from Andøya. Bergsbotn lies on the route between Senjahopen and Skaland.

Tips for campers: the route is open in winter too, but narrow winter roads are not for everyone. Emptying toilets is not allowed at the route’s rest areas; the nearest dump stations are in Skaland, Senjahopen and Mefjordvær. Other stops on the route in our guide: Tungeneset, Husøy, Ersfjordstranda and Segla.
