Laksforsen – Grane

Waterfall

About

Laksforsen, the salmon falls, is a broad 17 metre waterfall in the Vefsna river in Grane, Nordland, about 20 km north of Trofors. Up to 700 m³ of water per second thunder over the rocks. It lies right by the E6 and is one of the most visited stops on the road through Helgeland – some 80.000 people came in 2004.

Salmon: a salmon ladder leads up past the falls. It was closed from 1992 to 2017 to stop salmon infected with the gyrodactylus parasite from spreading further up the river.

Tips for campers: an easy break on the long E6 through Helgeland, a few minutes from the road. Stay on the paths – the rocks by the water are wet and slippery.
