The Polar Night Marathon is Norway's biggest winter race. It is run in Tromsø in January, in the middle of the day, in the blue Arctic light before the sun comes back. There are four distances: the marathon, a half marathon, 10 km (Mørketidsmila) and 5 km (Mørketidstrimen). The race is a member of AIMS, and the marathon distance is measured and certified.
Spectators line the course and cheer through the winter darkness, and it is a good time to be in Tromsø for the northern lights too.
