We would like to offer an electrically driven camper van with Arctic Campers in Lofoten in the summer of 2017. The challenge of setting up this kind of project is significant, but if not in Norway, where else could this idea succeed? Nowhere else do so many electric cars are registered, and the infrastructure for charging the cars is one of the best worldwide. Additionally, the cost of electricity in Norway is extraordinarily low, at 0.40 kr per kWh, and most of the power comes from environmentally friendly hydropower.
The E-Camper
Our rental statistics show that our camper guests visiting Lofoten drive less than 90 km per day, which is within the range of a typical electric van. The dramatic nature of Lofoten also serves as a great ambassador for environmentally friendly electric cars. Perhaps some of our guests will feel inspired by trying out driving an electric car, and their next vehicle might be an electric one. Our next steps include further developing the concept and finding the right partners. We will document our project over time on our website, so you can follow us and feel free to contribute your ideas. Trusting in the future ;)
