In Navitdalen, south of Sørstraumen in Kvænangen, the Navitelva river forms two waterfalls close together. Navitfossen (Sámi: Návetgorži) is one of the easiest waterfalls in the area to visit: just south of it there is a stopping place with parking, benches and a toilet, viewpoints by the river and a restored historic sawmill.
Røykfossen: from the same car park a path follows the north side of the river into Navitdalen and passes Røykfossen less than 1 km from the road. The path continues about 7 km into the valley, but it gets more demanding and less distinct – for Røykfossen alone there is no need to go further.
Tips for campers: from Sørstraumen take the local road towards Navitdalen; the car park is near Navitfoss Camping. A good short stop on the E6 through Kvænangen if you want waterfalls without a long hike. The valley is a protected area – stay on the paths.
