Rovijokfossen – Skibotndalen

Waterfall

About

Rovijokfossen (Sámi: Rovvegorži, Kven: Rovijoenkoski) is a 28 metre waterfall in the Rovijokkelva, just before it joins the Skibotnelva river in Skibotndalen in Storfjord. It lies right by the E8, about halfway between Skibotn and the Finnish border, and there are viewing platforms on both sides of the falls.

Tips for campers: an easy stop on the E8 between the Lyngenfjord and Finland – one of the main roads for campers coming from or going to Finland and Sweden. Skibotndalen is known for being one of the driest and clearest valleys in the region, so it is a good place to try for the Northern Lights in winter. Camp spot nearby in our guide: Skibotndalen.
