Our favorite warm-up hike to get a first impression of Lofoten and still our "Let's-have-an-after-work-beer-and-watch-the-sunset summit."
Located in the middle of Flakstadøya (just 2km south of Ramberg), you will pass this mountain anyhow when you travel down the E10 to Reine or Å. The hike is never really steep, and after maybe an hour, you will be rewarded with a spectacular view above Ramberg Beach, Fredvang, Selfjord, and, of course, many mountain tops around you. When looking down from the mountain top of Volandstinden towards the north, you can see the outlines of an old Viking settlement. The settlement has not been excavated until now. However, the latest update we have received is that the municipality is collaborating with an archaeologist from Oslo to begin digging soon. According to the archaeologist, this Viking settlement will surpass the Viking settlement found in Borg. Well, you never know until you start digging :).
